INFORMATION ABOUT ALLAHABAD Allahabad is a city in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of four sites of the Kumbha Mela. It has a position of importance in the Hindu religion and mythology since it is situated at the confluence of the holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna, and Hindu belief says that the invisible Sarasvati River joins here also. Allahabad is more famous because of some famous personalities born in this cities, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Amitabh Bachhan, Indian Cricketer Mohammad Kaif and many many more. ALLAHABAD HISTORY The earlier setlemets of the Aryans were established in this city, then known as Prayag. The earliest monument of antiques Ashok Piller with incriptions of third century B.C. cears the incriptions of his directions to his fellow rajas and praise of King Samudragupta. The Chinese traveler Huan Tsang in 643 BC found Prayag inhabited by many Hindus who regarded the place very Holy. 1575 AD Emperor Akbar fonded the city in by the name of “ ILLAHABAS” which has now become ALLAHABAD meant “ The City of Allaha” impressed with the strategic importance of the SANGAM. 1857 AD The town was the centre of war of Independence and later became the crucible of Indian Freedom Movment against British.From the days of civilization Allahabd has been seat of learning, wisdom and writing.
