INFORMATION ABOUT SASAN

Sasan or Sassan was the great priest of Temple of Anahita and father of Papag (Babak) and grandfather Ardashir I, the establisher of the second Persian Empire, the Sassanid empire. The Empire's name Sassanid or Sassanian is derived from Sasan's name due Ardashir's kinship to Sasan. There isn't much known about Sasan's background or life. The only sources containing information about Sassan are the Pahlavi book of Karnamak-i Artaxshir-i Papakan and Tabari. Shahraiar the king in 1001 Nights is described as being one of the kings of Sassan and Ladan.

• The Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary: (also known as Sasan-Gir) is the sole home of the pure Asiatic Lions (Panthera leo persica). Measuring about 258 kmē for the fully protected area (the National Park) and 1153 kmē for the Sanctuary, the area is considered to be one of the most important protected areas in Asia due to its supported species.
